Welcome to the website of the Atlantic Canadian World War Two Living History Association. Our mission is to preserve and honor the memory of the people who lived through the epic struggle that was the Second World War, and to educate the public about the many contributions of Canadians. This mission is accomplished through the authentic portrayal of the soldiers, sailors, air force personnel, as well as the civilians of all nations of the time. Members of the association share a common interest in history, and they desire to preserve and maintain a high degree of authenticity when portraying their respective subunits.
It is the responsibility of each member to acquire their own uniforms, field gear, firearms, and accouterments, or their civilian-based clothing. New members are encouraged to obtain their kit in stages over time, usually a two year period. Members may portray any soldier, sailor, or air force personnel, of any nation involved in the Second World War.
Members come from all walks of life, and hail from all parts of Atlantic Canada. Some members are active service members in the military, and some are retired. Most have had a family member who served in the military during the Second World War.
There is no age restriction for membership into the association, however children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The association currently meets once a month at the Shearwater Aviation Museum, located in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.
The Atlantic Canadian World War Two Living History Association is a non-political association and does not condone, support, encourage, or promote Nazism, or Communism in any form.
Our association is a registered society under the Nova Scotia Societies Act, registration number 3252624.
